Turkana's roll-top hybrid HippoHips™ is a uniquely designed hybrid soft luggage system, that can be used as classic universal type "over the seat“ using the Classic over the seat strap set or on our injection-moulded, Nylon6 glass-filled plate mounted system (Both mounting sets sold separately).

The HippoHips™ Hybrid universal design will fit the majority of adventure, touring or enduro style motorbikes, The soft saddlebag panniers require pannier frames on the motorcycle and fitment can be on both manufacturer pannier frames or aftermarket pannier frames.

Removable waterproof/dustproof inner bags.

Each saddlebag includes a roll-top removable inner liner bag, allowing you to conveniently leave the pannier bags on the bike and only take the inner bags to your tent or hotel room.

Rated IP67, the inner liner bags are waterproof and dustproof. Water may still come between the inner bag and the saddlebag, but it will not penetrate the inner bag. If the worst happens and the inner bag is damaged it can be easily replaced without the need to replace the entire saddlebag.

For convenience, the removable inner bags are also bright in colour, making it easier to find what you're looking for when searching through your stuff in the bag and when used in combination with the Turkana modular packing cubes, each cube has a different colour making packing the inner bag simple.

The Turkana HippoHips™ soft luggage adventure motorcycle mounting plate offers a quick release mount for your HippoHips™ baggage setup.

This unrivaled system offers a versatile, and universal fit to the majority of adventure motorcycles, designed with adjustable slots for easy configurability and fitment to most standard aftermarket and OEM motorcycle pannier racks of different shapes and sizes.

Lightweight, nearly unbreakable, making this the ideal adventure travel soft luggage mounting solution for adventure riders.

The glass-filled reinforced nylon 6 material, together with the ribbed design, gives these plates optimal strength where they need it most. But what sets these plates apart is their ingenious ribbed design, which not only saves on unnecessary weight but also grants the plate additional flexibility without compromising strength.

Unique cross-over the seat and compression support.

When purchased with the Hippohips Hybrid Classic Strap Mount Kit, the load-carrying cross-over straps disperse weight evenly and compress the bags to the motorcycle to allow access into tight places when riding those dual sport off-road trails.

These load-carrying cross-over straps redefine weight and load distribution. Keeping the total width of your bike to a minimum, with compression, these straps maintain centralised weight, preventing sagging on the outside and eliminating swaying into the rear wheel.

The HippoHip™ bags are made for enduro-adventure bike style riding and for the popular 1000cc+ Adv bikers, as it fits on most motorcycles and suits many different riding styles and preferences. True versatility.

With the wide over-the-seat support strap, secured by hook & loop fasteners, the bags secured to your motorcycle without sacrificing a comfortable pillion ride. Depending on your bike's specifications, this strap can also be installed beneath the seat.

M.O.L.L.E.

It is important that your saddlebags can be configured for different trips or adventures. What better system to use than what Chuck Norris and the military are used to? M.O.L.L.E. is perfect for this application, making it possible to add and use different pouches fitted with PALS to add more storage space to the saddlebags and allowing you to configure the system to your needs for the trip ahead.

Impact Protection all round

The HippoHips™ offers additional impact protection all around. The front is padded and double-layered to protect gear.

For additional protection, there is a Hdpe/high-density polyethylene impact protection plate. The plate is inserted at the back on the inside of the panniers to ensure it remains flush and close to the frames. Drops, spills, muddy and rocky rutted goat tracks, deep water crossing, tree branches the combination of the wear and tear fabrics, and protection plate will be able to protect your gear. 

The outer layer is made from durable fabrics, namely Rhinocote™. The fabrics offer a high tear, wear and abrasion resistance and can take enormous abuse associated with adventure type travel. The outer shell is water-resistant with double stitched seams which makes this luggage perfect for gritty offroad use and last for many years.

Field Repairable

Field repairable saddlebags mean that most damages should be repairable by anybody with a sewing needle in most places around the world. No need for welding or special tools is required as the case may be to fix hard panniers.

We know the HippoHips™ might be dragged to hell and back and that riders may have to make repairs now and then, as accidents are part of enduro-adventure riding. So, you do not have to throw your bags away due to cuts or tears. Just replace or repair what is needed.

Simply - they work!

The beauty of it lies in the simplicity of its design. It is one of the many reasons why so many seasoned experienced overlanders, adventure travellers and hardcore adv-enduro riders choose a lightweight design as preferred motorcycle luggage over aluminium panniers.

The lightweight total weights are kind to motorcycle subframes and pannier racks. Many riders still prefer and love this age old keep it simple stupid philosophy for soft motorbike baggage.

Weight on a motorcycle will always be a ball-and-chain and we believe having lightweight gear is the key for when riding off-road, enduro and adventure motorcycles. Lightweight can still be bulletproof and HippoHips™ is a testament to that.

When we updated the design of these saddlebags, we stuck to the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosophy. HippoHips™ are easy to fit and remove, using a few straps to tie down the bags to pannier frames and the bike, or quick release using our Turkana plate mount.

It is not a problem for weekend riders or commuters to leave the panniers on the bike as the waterproof/dustproof inner bags are removable and can be used to carry gear to a campsite or into a hotel.
