Introducing the new Turkana Gear HippoHips™ Saddlebags Plate Mounted Soft Luggage: quick release / fit, offering more functionality, adaptability, and configurability to different riding styles and trips.

Plate-Mounted Stability: We designed our new plate-mounted option with the true offroad adventure riders in mind. While retaining the option to mount over the seat, this new version now offers plates that mount onto most motorcycle pannier frames. This allows the soft saddlebags to compress better and fit very securely to the motorcycle, allowing for increased stability and balance when negotiating technical terrain.
Easy On-Off: The Turkana Hippos HipsTM plate-mounted saddlebags are installed quickly and easily onto the plates, with a quick release buckle system. This gives riders the option to either leave the bags mounted on the plates (i.e. when the saddlebags are dirty or muddy) or just remove the waterproof inner bags to take into a hotel or tent. Alternatively, the outer saddlebags can easily and quickly be removed altogether, with only the plates remaining behind on the pannier racks.
Great configurability: The Hippo HipsTM allows for easy configurability to suit your own setup: Select your size/volume by choosing either our 20L or 30L saddlebags, which can further be configured with MOLLE utility pouches and bottle bags to increase your capacity. We also offer a new, dedicated soft harness that can be bought separately and installed onto the plate – this will allow you to fit a combination of different sizes (5L, 10L, 15L or 20L) from our Trek bag range.
Universal Fit: The plate design offer numerous mounting points and slots for fitment to most pannier frames found on adventure motorcycles. This will allow riders the benefit to retain their luggage system and simply transfer onto a new motorcycle in the future when the old one gets sold, thus no need to replace with a new luggage system when you get rid of your old bike.
Riders owning more than one bike can simply switch the Hippo HipsTM system between different bikes that are fitted with a set of Turkana Gear luggage plates.
Durability and light weight: Manufactured from glass filled Nylon6 plastic, it features a robust ribbed design, which allowed us to shed a lot of weight. The pannier brackets are also made from the same material, resulting in a total weight per plate of only 900 grams. Despite its light weight, the Turkana Gear plates are designed and manufactured to withstand the rigorous demands and abuse of true offroad adventure riding.
